My stepson’s favorite holiday was just around the corner and with Halloween nipping at our heels already I thought I might do a little something special to acknowledge it this year. So I ran to the store and grabbed some simple seasonally themed décor to put up around the house to give it that spooky vibe. I had barely gotten anything prepared before Noah came walking through the door, backpack still fixed to his spine. But even one party banner of dopey grinning pumpkins was enough to bring that bright smile to his cute face. I even caught myself grinning from ear to ear as I scooped him up in my arms and giggled our way into the living room to reveal what he had won from my little surprise game of trick-or-treat. Despite my little trick on him, I was always going to offer the younger boy something I knew he desperately craved.
